DC interacts with civil society members

KISHTWAR, Sept 3: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav on Saturday convened an introductory meeting with civil society members including representatives of Socio-religious organisations, Beopar Mandal, Traders Association and NGOs here at Conference Hall of New DC Office Complex.
ADDC, Sham Lal; ADC, Kishori Lal Sharma; ACR, Varunjeet Singh Charak; Tehsildar Headquarter, Chander Shakhar Sharma; DySP (HQ), Ashish Gupta and other officers also attended the meeting.
During their maiden meeting with DC, the prominent citizens of Kishtwar put forth major public issues before him for early redressal.
The projected issues included improvement in sanitation, augmentation of health facilities, check on rates of medicines, upgradation of drainage system, road system, eviction of encroachments in Municipal area, check on proliferation of drug abuse, blacktopping of Shree Sarthal Devi Ji Road, resolving the problems of senior citizens, creation of job avenues for youth. They further demanded holding regular meetings with Civil Society members.
All the participants called for maintaining peace and brotherhood in the district and concrete measures to make Kishtwar a Drug abuse free district.
Appreciating the communal harmony and brotherhood maintained by the people of the district, the Deputy Commissioner assured the participants that such public meetings shall be convened on regular intervals to assess the demands and problems of common masses and redressal thereof. He assured the members of the civil society present in the meeting that whatever needed would be done for the holistic and inclusive development of Kishtwar District.
Regarding checking the rates of medicines, he assured that rates and the stocks of the pharmacy shops shall be checked shortly and a comprehensive monitoring mechanism would be put in place. Regarding the issue of up-gradation of drainage system in the Town area, he said the Executive Officer Municipal Council has been served a notice under Section 133 CrPC to explain why drains are uncovered and irregular and has been directed to take corrective measures by starting repair work. The DC appealed the delegation members to join hands with the District Administration to take Kishtwar on a developmental path and to make it Drugs free. He further asked them to give their suggestions and feedback about activities to be organised during month-long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan rolled out in the district. Besides, the NGOs were solicited to write an application to his office for issuing ID cards in their favour to facilitate entry into hospital premises during need of emergency without any hindrance.
