India breaks shackles | | | India has surpassed the United Kingdom to become the fifth largest economy in the world. The feat is special as India has left behind those who ruled it for 250 years. According to International Monetary Fund (IMF) projections, India has overtaken the UK to become the world's fifth-largest economy and is now behind only the US, China, Japan and Germany. India has broken the shackles of thousands of years of slavery and is moving forward. On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, while interacting with National Teacher Award winners, said: "The pleasure of surpassing the UK, who ruled over India for approximately 250 years supersedes the mere statistics of improved ranking from the sixth largest to the fifth largest economy. It is special." India growing as an economy is an indication that it's on its way to become one of the strongest countries in the world. A decade ago, India was ranked 11th among the large economies while the UK was at the fifth position. With the record-beating expansion in the April-June quarter, the Indian economy has now overtaken the UK, which has slipped to the sixth spot. India has witnessed a rapid development since 2014, when Narendra Modi, took over as the Prime Minister of the country. After a long time the nation has got a strong leader, who has will and determination to change the destinies of the people. After Modi has taken over the reins of the country, India has changed. During the past eight years the entire world has understood that India is not a weak country and anyone who dares to look towards it will be given a befitting reply. Surgical strikes and Balakot airstrikes sent a clear message to Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it that if they dare to indulge in any misadventure the Indian Army can cross the border and hit them hard within their dens. Besides focusing on the economy the dispensation led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has focused on making the armed forces stronger. Soldiers have been equipped with sophisticated weapons and have been provided special training to use technology as a weapon. India is marching ahead on every front and is on its way to become a superpower. |
