J&K BJP Mahila Morcha Spokesperson welcomes amnesty to domestic power consumers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: BJP Mahila Morcha J&K Spokesperson Ritika Trehan today hailed one time amnesty scheme launched by the Government for domestic power consumers. She expressed her gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for providing one time amnesty for domestic power consumers. The new scheme envisages that the outstanding principal amount arrears accumulated upto 31.03.2022 after waiving off 100% interest/surcharge shall be paid in a maximum of twelve monthly (12) installments, she said. Ritika further said that during the past three years multiple steps have been taken in the Union territory to improve the power scenario and set the system right. Revenue collection has always been a challenge for the Power Department in Jammu and Kashmir but after J&K’s transition into a Union Territory and Power Development Department being split into Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (KPDCL) the revenue collection has improved. The electricity distribution system has become better as both the corporations are ensuring that the consumers don’t face any problems and the issues faced by them are resolved without any delay, she added. People don’t cry anymore to pay the bills as the electricity has been made available to them. As consumers they have realized that if they are utilizing the service then they have to pay for it. The complaints about pesky power cuts and unscheduled shutdowns have come down. In a nutshell the reforms in the Power Department have proven to be beneficial for the consumers, she said. The new steps and the reorganization of one of the most important departments in the Union Territory have helped the consumers to get better access to power. The Union Territory has been brought at par with other States and UTs across the country and the dream of J&K getting electricity 24x7 is all set to come true. The LG Sinha led administration deserves kudos for all the hard work it has put into transform the ailing power sector in Jammu and Kashmir, added Ritika. |
