Courts impose fine on violators for not following safety standards | | | EARly Times Report
Jammu, Sept 20: Different courts in Jammu division on Tuesday imposed fines on violators for not adhering to the food safety standards. A statement said that a fine of Rs 2, 31500 was imposed on the violators under Food Safety Act by different courts in Jammu Division. During the court proceedings the cases of substandard and misbranded nature were screened and examined during the trials both the parties were heard and the cases were decided on merit. The fines were imposed with clear cut directions to adopt corrective measures and in case the offences are repeated these could attract stringent punishments, the statement said. It added that on the directions of Commissioner FDA J&K a training was organized to create awareness about the significance of the initiatives of Eat Right India at Patoli. “Fifty food business operators were imparted training,” the statement said. It said that during the deployment of MFTV at Ramgarh in Doda district 20 surveillance samples were tested on the spot and two awareness programs were held for the food business operators, including MFTV-consumer benefits and another program was of RUCO. Besides, another program was also organized regarding Food Safety on Wheels. The statement said that a team of Enforcement Officers led by Assistant Commissioner, Food safety Doda visited two schools including Govt Primary School Pamal & HS Baggar and checked MDM and apprised the concerned about fortification, hygiene, sanitation and to make safety water available to the students, the statement said, adding that finally, the team of Enforcement of Food Safety in the both the Schools took pledge of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. |
