CLUJ celebrates Hindi-Diwas | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 20: Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), organized an expert talk to commemorate Hindi Diwas in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (AACL) as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the patronage of Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, CLUJ. Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on the 14th of September to remember and honour the adoption of the Hindi language, written in the Devanagari script, as one of the official language of the country. It is pertinent to mention here that several writers, poets, and activists have contributed towards the adoption of Hindi as one of the official languages. Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ, welcomed the dignitaries and advocated the importance and promotion of Hindi as it is our Mother Language which ornaments the pluralistic ethos of our country and is also known as the language of Unity. She further expressed her gratitude towards Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary, AACL for his active assistance in the successful organization of the event. Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, former Head of Department of Hindi and Prof. Raj Kumar, Former Professor, Department of Hindi, University of Jammu were the expert panelists at the event. Sh. Sanjeev Rana (JKAS), Additional Secretary, AACL, was also present during the event. Prof. Rajkumar exhorted that Hindi is one of the oldest and most influential languages in world and we should take pride in speaking our mother tongue. He urged students to make optimum use of Hindi language to enhance their oratory skills and encouraged in-depth reading of manuscripts of renowned Hindi writers to expand their knowledge horizons. Prof. Parmeshwari in her talk, emphasized that a country which does not take pride in its language and literature cannot progress. She added that students should be well-oriented about the importance of Hindi and how celebrating the day helps in sustaining and glorifying traditional values that ultimately reinforce the language's importance. She added that Hindi language is famous and spoken in several other countries along with being taught in major universities of the world. Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary, AACL, expressed that Hindi-Diwas is marked to remember and honour the adoption of Hindi Language as one of the official languages of India and to contain the increasing trend of the English language in the nation. About 50 students from PG schools of CLUJ participated in event that was followed by an interactive session. The programme witnessed several dignitaries- Dean, Faculty of Arts, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Cultural Coordinators, Associate and Assistant Deans. Sania Gupta, student of Semester 4, anchored the proceedings of the programme and formal vote-of-thanks was delivered by Dr. Kuldeep Raina, Cultural Coordinator, CLUJ. |
