9/20/2022 11:17:27 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 20: Bureau of Indian Standard - Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office conducted an Enforcement Search and Seizure operation at M/s Divya Spring Water Enterprises, Lower Gadigarh, Jammu on 20.09.2022 to check the violation of FSSAI Quality Control Order dated 01.08.2011 under which no person shall manufacture, sell or exhibit for sale Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) except under the Bureau of Indian Standards Certification Mark. The Enforcement Raid was conducted by Smt. Nisha Bura, Sh. Pankaj Atri – Joint Directors and Sh. Mahesh Chandra, SO. During the raid, substantial quantities of fake ISI marked Packaged Drinking Water bearing expired and fake Certification Marks Licence Nos was seized at the premises of M/s Divya Spring Water Enterprises where fake ISI PDW was being manufactured and packed with Future Choice, Magique and Country Choice Brands without a valid BIS licence.
Action is being initiated by BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office against the offenders under the Bureau of Indian Standard Act, 2016. The offence is punishable with imprisonment up to two years or a fine not less than two lakhs or both as per BIS Act 2016. It has been observed many times that fake ISI marked products are manufactured and sold to common consumers for huge profit keeping their health and safety at stake. Consumers are therefore requested to ascertain the authenticity of ISI Mark on the products before purchase through BIS Care App. In case of any instance of misuse of ISI Mark, complaints can also be easily registered on this App. BIS is further planning to conduct a crackdown on such spurious manufacturing units to protect the interest of consumers.
