RTO Kathua, GLDM Degree College organizes awareness programme | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 12: Today an awareness programme on road safety norms was conducted by Regional Transport Office, Kathua in collaboration with NSS unit at Govt. GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar. The event was organized under the patronage of worthy principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna. The program started with the welcome address by Prof. Rakesh Sharma, NSS, Program Officer. MVD Inspector Surinder Kumar was the resource person of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion. The resourse person briefed the students about the traffic rules one needs to follow while driving. He informed the audience about the standard operating procedures that require to be followed while driving or moving on the roads. He stressed upon the norms people need to follow while driving. While highlighting the traffic statistics across the world, he informed the audience about the some of the main reasons behind the accidents which includes texting including use of phones while driving, drunken driving, over speeding and advised students to be role model in saving the precious lives of the accident victims. He further added that law has been modified to protect the rights and identity of the passerby who helps accident victim. He also shared the comparison of citizen traffic behaviour across different countries citing an example of India and US. He also discussed the various traffic signs to the audience and elaborated that traffic signs can be divided into three categories-mandatory road signs, warning road signs and information signs. The program was organized under the overall supervision of Prof Rakesh Sharma, NSS Program Officer. The other staff members who witnessed the event were Prof. Kiran Thapa, Prof. Manjot Singh, Dr. Chinky Sangral and Dr. Bhupinder Singh. In the end of the program the formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Kiran Thapa. |
