Stop polluting environment
11/2/2022 11:04:49 PM
Jammu is awaiting rains eagerly as the air pollution levels are increasing at a rapid pace. Rains only can reduce the pollution levels and bring some respite.
Experts are of the opinion that deteriorating air quality could cause respiratory diseases among the elderly and the children.
The AQI of 70 to 100 is considered to be normal for any city, but if the level crosses over 100, the amount of dust particles in the air becomes so high that can affect the quality of lives of the people.
The air quality of any place deteriorates due to many reasons. If the pollution levels are not kept under control the air quality is bound to worsen. The government agencies like Pollution Control Board do keep a check on the pollution caused due to industries and other units. But it cannot keep a check on every person causing pollution.
The burning of stubble emanates huge smoke and leads to air quality getting deteriorated to an extent that people even find it difficult to breathe. The small units which operate from congested areas without any clearance from the agencies too are a big reason for the poor air quality. Thousands of outdated vehicles ply on the roads without getting pollution clearance from authorized pollution centers. In a nutshell people themselves to a great extent are responsible for the air pollution and the worst part is that they don’t even realize how they wreak havoc with the environment and the surroundings around them.
It’s not only air which the humans are polluting. They are also polluting the environment around them and seem least bothered about preserving the nature around them. It’s not only the air quality which has deteriorated during the past few years, even the quality of the drinking water has turned bad as the rivers and other water bodies have become dumping grounds for garbage and other human waste. We need to wake up before it becomes too late. We cannot keep on taking the nature and the environment around us for granted. If we keep on playing with the environment around us then the day is not far that neither we will be able to breathe or even drink water.
It’s high time for people to realize the responsibilities and duties and stop blaming the government for everything.
