Srinagar, Nov 3: Rich tributes were paid on Thursday to Major P Purshottam, the Defence Public Relations Officer, who was killed along with five other soldiers in a suicide attack by militants in 1999.

In a solemn and poignant ceremony held at the Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, all ranks of the Public Relations Office, paid rich tributes to Major Purushottam and five soldiers, including one Junior Commissioned Officer and four jawans, who were killed in a Fidayeen attack on this day in 1999.
Major Purushottam, was killed in his office in 1999 when a Fidayeen squad stormed the Badamibagh cantonment on November 3, 1999. Major Purushottam, was with three photojournalist journalists ? Sheikh Tariq, Fayaz Ahmed and Habib Naqash - when the militants stormed his office. Major Purushottam pushed the three journalists into the washroom and was killed by gunmen.
