AJKLTF demands justice for teachers fraternity

JAMMU, Nov 3: In yet example of discrimination of towards teachers of Jammu Kashmir, the School Education Department has failed to conduct any Departmental Promotional Committee meeting in the region since 2014 in favor of teachers.
In a statement here today,DevrajThakur, President All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation aft. Akhil Bhartyia Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh said that thousands of teachers, and other staff members have been this way deprived of promotion chances.
Thakur revealed that teachers' timely promotion in general has a great impact in the pupils' learning progress and outcomes. As motivation increases through improved working environment and timely paying teachers' claims, the level of performance also increases.This is because of the discriminative approaches of the School Education Department who were at helm of affairs in the department over the years.
In examining the role of timely promotion, Thakur reveals that teachers' timely promotion have the great role in increasing the teachers work morale. Thakur further added that promotion opportunities build willingness in employees to work, hence stability in works and it's recognition is one of the most significant motivating factor among the industrial workers which enables them to achieve high productivity.
He further added that establishment of incentive schemes and wages work as a means of stimulating workers to work hard to be committed and eventually to be satisfied with the motivation they get, and suggested that, when teachers are timely promoted/motivated they will love their teaching profession; they will teach effectively that may help the pupils to increase their academic performance.
He said that another grave problem in the Department is failure of the Department to adopt a concrete policy for rejuvenation of this important department and framing of a proper transfer policy for the members of teaching community. While some teachers posted in far off places for several years crave for their transfer to their home districts those who are favouritism manage their postings in capital cities or near their vicinity.
Thakur said that the department having no definite policy with regard to the transfer of teachers was leading to unnecessary confusion every year. Teachers form the largest group among the government employees. However, the department have failed to implement a definite transfer policy in Jammu Kashmir. The teachers have been demanding transfers to ensure better quality of education.
However, the government is yet to consider seriously the need for having a transfer policy for school teachers and implementation of ATD-2022 in favor of teaching community. Regarding the transfer the government should make some forward move in consultation with teachers, officials and experts, he said.
"The teachers in J&K UT are agitating for non seriousness of the department to transfer them in times in suitable places and the grave concern among the teachers however is failure of Government to conduct the DPC yearly.
