Amit invites Global Mineral Business Developers to invest in J&K during MBD Conference 2022 | | | Agencies
Nagpur, Nov 10: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Mining Department J&K extended a special invite to Global Mineral Developers during the ongoing two-day International Conference & Exhibition on Mineral Business Development, 2022 organised at Nagpur. The theme of this mega event is “Prospects and Challenges of Mineral Based Products and Utilization of Wastes for the Make in India Initiative”. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also extended his wishes through a special video message to the visiting delegates and organisers Mineral Information & Development Center (MIDC), India who have collaborated with Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI), India and Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED), India who have organised this mega international event in his constituency Nagpur. While attending the Inaugural Session of this International Conference as a Guest of Honour, Secretary Mining J&K Amit Sharma shared the success story of J&K created in past couple of years wherein Mining & Mineral Exploration sectors have touched new heights and he extended an invite to all prospective Global players to invest in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir elaborating on ample underlying scope for strategic minerals there. Lot of global players expressed their interest and willingness to come soon to J&K while mentioning their areas of interest and specialisation. During his keynote address which followed the Inaugural Session, Secretary Mining J&K Amit Sharma gave a detailed presentation on the mining and mineral wealth in J&K and shared district-wise scope for different minerals availability such as Lithium, Bauxite, Limestone, Gypsum, Marble, Lignite, Graphite and Quartzite. Amit also disclosed that a rare precious gem Sapphire is being extracted in Padder area of Jammu division which is having an excellent quality and the Coal mines located in Kalakote area of Jammu has been provisioning top quality anthracite coal over last many years. The delegates showed lot of interest in exploring the mineral wealth of J&K after this eye-opening presentation on Opportunities for Mineral based Industries in J&K by Secretary Mining. Apart from this, during interaction on the sidelines of Conference with Secretary Mining Amit Sharma, CMD Indian Rare Earth Limited (Miniratna) Deependra Singh expressed interest to contribute in J&K soon, Director CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technolgy Prof Suddhasatwa Basu also emphasised the need to work in J&K which were overwhelmingly welcomed by J&K visiting team. The consultants of Indian Bureau of Mines and National Mineral Development Corporation also tied-up with J&K team and Secretary Mining Amit Sharma directed Parmod Khajuria, Manager J&K Minerals accompanying alongside to draw a plan through JKML to organise a FAM visit of the stakeholders at different Mineral reserve sites so that J&K which could help the UT to figure amongst the top mineral exploration and producing States/UTs of the nation.
