REASI, Nov 18: A cleanliness-cum-Swatchta drive was today conducted in the holy town of Katra witnessing the participation of officials, stakeholder departments, PRI members, Students and Civic Workers. The drive was conducted on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babita Rakhwal and under the supervision of Sub Divisional Magistrate Katra, Angrez Singh. Chief Executive Officer KDA Katra, Tehsildar Katra, Block Development Officer, Panthal, Manager MVD Shrine Board, NSS volunteers of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and teams of MC Katra and shrine board officials besides PRI members of Sirakotla & Dhirti participated in the drive. The SDM Katra along with his team conducted Cleanliness drive on the 7 KM stretch from Sool Chowk to CRPF camp Dhirti, wherein more than 100 volunteers participated. The SDM advised the participants not to litter polythene waste along roadside and in front of their shops and directed them to put polythene in designated dustbins. Highlighting the importance of maintaining sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene, the SDM appealed to all participants to keep their surroundings clean and also motivate others to maintain cleanliness. He called upon the public to discard the use of polythene, maintain hygiene, keep water sources neat and clean for a holistic clean environment in the district. At the end, the SDM Katra distributed refreshment among the participants and thanked them for proactively participating in the drive.
