EArly Times Report

KATHUA, Nov 21: Today a press conference was organized by the District Bar Association Kathua led by Adv. Ajat Shatru Sharma its President. The Main purpose of the press conference was to clarify the stand of the District Bar Association Kathua with regard to the past internal difference aroused with a group which floated the self-styled body namely “Kathua Advocates Association” which was an association of conflicting interest with the elected Bar. Some affiliated members of the that association filed false & frivolous Criminal Complaint against the, then President & his Executive Committee and other 75 Advocates related to Covid19 disbursement of financial assistance in the year 2020 which was pending disposal before Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and other authorities till date. The majority of members of the District Bar Association was of the unanimous opinion that till the said criminal complaint is withdrawn by the members of the that very association and dissolution of the said Association the elections of the Bar could not be held by keeping the present circumstances into consideration and till then the present elected President of the District Bar Association Kathua will continue to work for welfare of members of the Bar as usual and as soon as the said false & frivolous criminal complaint be withdrawn or disposed off the sitting President is authorized to start next election process subject to the other conditions.
While speaking over the occasion Senior Advocate Ganga Ram Sharma said that the pending false & frivolous criminal Complaint related to covid19 relief disbursement must be withdrawn as early as possible which has made the members to suffer unnecessary harassment if action be initiated otherwise and its better for the unity of the Bar to withdraw the said criminal complaint immediately from the higher forum and the association of conflicting interest with the Bar be also dissolved and till then the sitting elected President Adv. Ajat Shatru Sharma shall be mandated to continue to lead & work for the welfare of member Advocates of the District Bar Association Kathua.
