DC Reasi reviews implementation of Road Safety Plan

REASI, Nov 21: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakhwal today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the implementation of the Road Safety plan in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP, Amit Gupta; ACR Sanjay Badyal; CEO Sunita Rani; ARTO, Rajesh Gupta and other officers and stakeholders.
While interacting with the officers, the DC emphasised that the Road Safety Committee was constituted by the Government of J&K with the main objective of reducing road accidents and saving precious human lives and for better management of traffic within the District.
Several agendas were discussed during the meeting . The main issues discussed were Formulation of District Road Safety Plan 2023-24, Identification of Black Spots/Accidental Prone areas for taking corrective measures/repairs & installation of crash barriers/road signages, removal of encroachments from footpaths & roads, organising joint IEC camps, installation of Speed Limit devices, Availability of Ambulances on NHW near accidental prone areas for immediate shifting in case of any mishaps, recommendation for suspension of driving licenses for violation of traffic rules especially over speeding, drunk driving, use of Mobile phones while driving.
The MVD and Traffic Police authorities were directed to take strict action against violators and conduct regular sensitisation of drivers and bikers for ensuring safe driving.
Necessary instructions were issued to the executing agencies for maintenance of roads & installation of crash barriers, with reflecting tape, repair of parapets and other sinages at working sites with emphasis on accident prone areas , implementation of Ribbon Act & Timely submission of ATRs.
The DC directed the concerned authorities for setting up teams of volunteers and QRTs squads for making the public aware to curb the practice of underage and delinquent driving besides handling any type of exigency.
The DC stressed on collective efforts that are required to minimise the road accidents in the entire district.
