59th ABU general assembly & associated meetings at Hotel Pullman, New Delhi | | | agencies NEW DELHI, Nov 25: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India, commenced on 12 th March 2021 which starts a 75 week countdown to India's 75 th anniversary of Independence, to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Modi's vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. To commemorate the monumental occasion, all Department and Ministries will host a set of activities for a resurgent, Aatmanirbhar Bharat. In line with this, Prasar Bharati has been entrusted to host the 59 th ABU General Assembly & Associated Meetings 25-30 November 2022 at Hotel PullMan, Aero-city, New Delhi, as the same would be a strategic opportunity for India to showcase the achievements, rich heritage, vast diversity and progressive India to the world. Hosting the above event in India would serve as the opportunity for India to share the happiness and Joy of 75 th year of the Independence, the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, with the different countries of the world; it would be a remarkable step for India to showcase the technological advancements and achievements in the Prasar Bharati-ABU Association - All India Radio and Doordarshan is the founder as well as a proactive member of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) since inception. Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), established in 1964, is a non-profit, non- governmental, non-political, professional association with mandate to assist the development of broadcasting organizations in the region, currently Headquartered at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ABU promotes the collective interests of television and radio broadcasters as well as key industry players and also facilitate regional and international media cooperation for members. It has over 260 members in over 67 countries on the four continents, reaching a potential audience of about 3 billion people. ABU also runs a wide range of services which includes daily Asia-Vision TV news exchange, technical and programming workshops, legal and management consultancies, international frequency planning and coordination between the broadcasters including various capacity building activities for the benefit of members. CEO, Prasar Bharati is currently holding the position of Vice President of ABU, elected to the post in an online election held in 2020. ADG(GO) is also holding the Vice Chair of ABU technical Committee. This year Prasar Bharati will be hosting 59th ABU General Assembly & Associated Meetings from 25-30th Nov 22 at Hotel PullMan, Aero-city, New Delhi.
