India wins the IEC vice presidency and SMB chair for the 2023-25 term | | | agencies NEW DELHI, Nov 26: During the course of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) General Assembly meeting held recently in San Francisco, USA, Vimal Mahendru, a member of the Indian National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and various technical committees of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS-India), secured over 90% of the votes cast by full members of IEC and was elected as IEC Vice President and the Standardization Management Board (SMB) Chair for the 2023-25 term. Mahendru was also conferred by IEC, the prestigious Lord Kelvin award in the IEC General Assembly for his contributions to the international standardization in the field of electrical, electronics and IT. International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is an international standard setting body that publishes international Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. Standardization Management Board (SMB) is an apex governance body of IEC responsible for technical policy matters.
