Modi Govt wiped out corruption: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 9: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Friday said that PM Narendra Modi has taken a resolute stand against the rampant corruption in the country and in the last eight years created an ecosystem by giving teeth to anti-graft bodies for rooting out the aforesaid scourge. In a statement issued on the international anti-corruption day, the BJP stalwart said that the impact of PM Modi’s statement, ‘Na Khayunga Na Khane Doonga’ is widespread and in many places in the country corruption has become a thing of the past. He said that the scenario of anti-corruption operations in J&K is also very progressive as anti-graft agencies in Jammu and Kashmir traditionally were nothing more than toothless tigers as the erstwhile state always slotted top ranks in the corruption index but after the incumbent government took over the reins, the things have changed by 180 degrees. He said the decision to rechristen the SVO into ACB and give teeth to the anti-graft body proved to be a turning point in J&K’s history as it led to the government launching a decisive war against corruption in the Union Territory. He said that after 2019 changes in the UT, the stringent provisions became applicable in J&K and the noose around corrupt officers was tightened further. The senior BJP functionary said that corruption was viewed as an essential part of government before 2014 but after the BJP coming into power India saw a sea change due to the BJP-led dispensation’s zero-tolerance towards graft. He said today whether it is J&K or any other part of the country, the government has waged a war against corruption and the corrupt are on the run trying to save their skin as corruption has been wiped out in a big way. |
