DODA, Dec 12: To assess the traffic worthiness of road infrastructure, Transport facilities and safety of commuters, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan on Monday chaired the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting here in the conference hall of the DC office. After reviewing the implementation of the road safety plan, the DC constituted a Committee headed by ARTO with members from PWD, and Traffic Police to analyse different road accidents that occurred in the district in the last three years and report the cause of accidents within 20 days. The ARTO and health department were asked to conduct regular health checkups of drivers and road worthiness of vehicles in the district. It was informed that orientation cum counselling sessions for both government and commercial vehicle drivers were being conducted in the entire district. The meeting was informed that the MVD Doda has conducted 65 such awareness programmes in the last one month. The committee was informed that teams of Traffic Police, MVD and Revenue authorities are conducting extensive checking on roads across the district. The mandatory installation of GPS on all the commercial vehicles, Ambulances, JCBs and official vehicles as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules was also stressed upon. The installation of speed governors in all the commercial vehicles was also reviewed and ARTO asked to complete the task by 1 January 2023. The DC also directed to create a toll free dedicated number for emergency medical services for the commercial drivers. The DRSC also discussed the implementation of previous decisions, and, Road safety fund, iRAD and progress made in the establishment of National Institute of Driving Training, testing and Research at Doda.
