Jaishankar exposes Pak, China | | | External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in his speech at United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on counter-terrorism hit out at double standards on terrorism practised by China and Pakistan. He stressed on the international community to act collectively against the countries that support terrorists and the terrorism. Jaishankar reiterated that India would continue its fight against the terrorism till the menace is wiped out completely. Since the day Narendra Modi has taken over as the Prime Minister of India, New Delhi’s policy has been clear i.e. terrorism won’t be tolerated and terror and talks cannot go together. PM Modi led dispensation has had a clear cut policy towards the terrorists and Pakistan. By carrying out surgical strikes in 2016 and Balakot air strikes in 2019, India made it clear to Pakistan and the terror bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) that terrorism in any form won’t be tolerated. And befitting reply will be given for any misadventure from the other side. After 2019, Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it have understood that if they cross the Line of Control (LoC) they would have to pay a heavy price for it. The PM Modi led dispensation has given a clear message to the world that India has changed and if anyone casts an evil eye towards India’s sovereignty he will be given a reply in a language which he understands. Pakistan as epicentre of terrorism remains very much alive and active. A notion is being created that the situation is changing in the neighbouring country but the facty remains that old habits and established networks are still alive there. China has been blocking all the moves in the UNSC aimed at imposing sanctions against Pakistan-based terrorists. China too has been adopting double standards. On one hand it claims that terrorism can’t be tolerated but on the other it’s supporting it by blocking sanctions against the designated terrorists. It’s unfortunate that politicians in Pakistan have been using terrorism for political gains. Many top leaders of the neighbouring country have gone on record to acknowledge that terrorists are a part and parcel of Pakistan’s state policy. The world is changing and is changing fast. If Pakistan doesn’t fall in line it will have to pay a heavy price for supporting terror. |
