4 drug peddlers booked under PSA, another nabbed with contraband in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police booked four drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) while arresting another with a huge quantity of contraband substances on Monday. Police have booked 4 notorious drug peddlers under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority in Awantipora. The drug peddlers have been identified as Bakhtawar Ahmad Makroo, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Abdul Qayoom Bhat and Tariq Ahmad Mir. Police said all the four drug peddlers were involved in NDPS cases registered in various Police Stations of Police District Awantipora and were promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth oftenly. Meanwhile in Budgam, a Police party of Police Post Hardipanzo during area domination at Waragam Beerwah, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Malik, a resident of Waragam Beerwah. During the search, a huge quantity of contraband including 39 Charas sticks weighing 1.045Kgs were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated. |
