DC asks for setting up Ancillary unit on NH-44

RAMBAN, Dec 20: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today presided over the valedictory function of the 2-day awareness cum demonstration programme on preparedness for conducting rescue operations during natural calamities and other disasters.
The programme was organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in collaboration with District Administration Ramban as a part of 'Good Governance Week'.
The programme was attended by ADDC, Rajinder Kumar; Dy. DEO, Lal Chand; SDM Gool, Tanveer-Ul-Majid; Dy.SP Hqtr, Pardeep Kumar; Principal Polytechnic Ramban, Suket Gupta; Assistant Commandant NDRF, Javed Iqbal; Inspector SDRF, MP Wazir, officers of Civil Administration, NDRF, Police, civil QRT, Students and members of different NGOs.
The DC appreciated the team of 13th Bn NDRF for organizing a wonderful and informative mock drill in the district. He said that the mock drill was aimed to sensitise stakeholders about rescue preparedness at the time of an earthquake, landslide, or fire incident.
The Deputy Commissioner also thanked the NDRF, SDRF, POLICE and teams of Civil QRTs for showcasing the preparedness mechanism for dealing with any disaster. He asked the agencies to also focus on handling cloud bursts, road accidents, and earthquake-like challenges.
Assuring a chunk of land along NH-44 to set up an Ancillary unit of NDRF for convenience during rescue and relief operations, the DC informed that Ramban district has also been selected for a decision support system under the JTFRP project by the RAMSA agency.
Earlier, the 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a mock drill on fire incidents and earthquake preparedness in the District Administrative Complex, Ramban.
The experts from NDRF gave demonstrations about rescue operations and precautionary measures while handling the injured and use of equipment during rescue operations was also deployed and demonstrated during the Drill.
