12/20/2022 10:16:30 PM
Early Times Report

RAJPURA (Samba), Dec 20 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has failed to fulfill the promises made with the border dwellers and the condition has become worse due to hollow policies of the BJP led government at the Centre. The Government had promised to provide them five-marla plots at safer places but it has proved rhetoric, as nothing was done for welfare of border dwellers.
This was claimed by Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President J&K National Conference while addressing a gathering at Village Bhagato Chak in Rajpura, district Samba here today. The meeting was organized by Satpal Block President SC Cell.
The senior NC leader accused the BJP Government of bringing immense miseries to the people residing on border areas by making hollow promises and doing nothing on ground.
He asserted that eight years of BJP rule at the Centre has only resulted in destruction of economy, jobs, employment besides highest inflation ever since Independence be it the prices of edible oil, petrol, diesel, cooking gas or other essential items for a human being.
Rattan Lal Gupta questioned the BJP leaders about the promised 5 Marla plots to the border dwellers which have not yet seen light of the day. He said that by ignoring the interests of the patriotic people of the area the BJP leadership has exposed their hollow sloganeering about Desh Bhakti and nationalism. Being the ruling party at the Centre and having secured heavy mandate in the elections from Jammu region, he blamed BJP for its total failure to address the genuine problems and concerns of the people.
Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that there is dire need to revamp the power infrastructure in the border belt to provide much needed succour to farming community and general masses as the same is in abysmal condition.
He said that the people here mostly belong to farming class and depend wholly on power to satiate their irrigation needs but those sitting at helm have seldom taken care leading to this emergent situation where power cuts are the new norms and damage to transformers is a daily affair besides low lying power cables threatening lives of people and even livestock. He also raised serious concern over deplorable condition of health centre as the same is lacking adequate medical infrastructure and equipments necessary for medical check up due to which the people have forced to visit Jammu for getting medical treatments.
The senior NC leader criticised the governments at the Centre and in J&K for ignoring the youth of border belt. He accused LG Administration of adopting a discriminatory approach towards the border youth with no employment policy or any kind of development project.
He demanded that the government must hold on the spot special and fast track recruitment in belt forces for the youth of border belt along the International Border as well as the Line of Control in J&K.
The Provincial President asked the BJP leadership not to test the patience of the people as the nationalist people guarding the borders of the country as front line of duty would teach the Saffron Party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Vijay Lochan, Provincial President SC Cell, slammed the administration for pursuing anti-poor policies, stating that it has callously ignored the interests of Scheduled Caste population. “The headway made with regard to empowerment of weaker sections during National Conference led government has been undone, he regretted.
Lochan enumerated the initiatives taken by the successive National Conference Governments in ameliorating the lot of weaker sections, especially Scheduled Caste segment of the society.
He recalled the contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah towards upliftment and welfare of Scheduled Caste category and said that literacy and socio-economic emancipation got impetus during his tenure and the successive National Conference governments.
Those who were spoke in the meeting : Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary Jammu, Sudagar Chand Gupta District President Samba, Ashok Kumar Attri, Mohinder Singh and Krishan Dutt.
Those who were present in the meeting included: Darshan Singh, Joginder Pal, Ajay Sharma, Ravinder Jasrotia, Mittar Pal Singh and others.
