KVK celebrates national farmers day | | | Early Times Report REASI, Dec 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated National Farmers Day (Kisan Diwas)-2022 here today at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district of J&K. The programme was attended by a number of farmers of the area. The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. The programme was started by Sr.Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal with the warm welcome of the participants. While addressing the farmers, he briefed about the significance of the event. He highlighted the extraordinary contribution of farmers in agriculture and stressed on empowering the farmers with the latest technologies. He said that farmers play the significant role in raising the economy of the nation. He said that farmers are actively involved in providing the food to the nation and emphasized on the need of more technical knowhow for them. He spoke in detail on the organic and natural farming practices and guided the participants on the agri-entrepreneurship development in the rural areas. He also guided the farmers on the preparations of organic formulations such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Panchgavya etc. and suggested them for the fruit, vegetables and spices processing. He also spoke on the various schemes implemented for the farmers in the district. Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist said that by commercial organic vegetables and fruits cultivation farmers can generate extra income and employment in the area. He also spoke on entrepreneurship development in horticulture and added that they should adopt the advance technologies in the horticultural sector to enhance their farm income. While interacting with the farmers he stressed on the adoption of scientific farming by which farmers can enhance their farm income. He narrated that the area has huge potential in ginger and turmeric cultivation and farmers should go for their commercial cultivation. Bimla Devi, an awardee farm woman of the area was also present during the occasion. Farmers interacted with the KVK scientists and asked various technical quarries which were answered by the KVK scientists in a satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi with formal vote of thanks. |
