Secy Mining vows to keep peak tempo of works in Kashmir during winter months | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Mining Department today took a round of few mineral extraction sites of Kashmir followed by an exhaustive review meeting on multiple issues of Mining Department in Civil Secretariat Srinagar today. He was accompanied during the multiple visits with Joint Director Mining Kashmir Nisar Ahmad, Manager J&K Minerals Limited Pramod Khajuria and DMOs of the respective districts. Secretary Mining Amit Sharma happened to make a random visit at few sites and directed for conducting random on-spot inspections of all mining sites through flying squads constituted by the Mining Department at all vulnerable points even in midnight hours especially with the help of respective police teams and district administrations and under overall supervision of both Joint Directors of Geology & Mining. In the second phase of visit, a detailed review meeting of the Mining Department was held in Civil Secretariat Srinagar wherein Director Geology & Mining O.P Bhagat, Managing Director, J&K Minerals Corporation Vikram K.Gupta, both Joint Directors and DMOs of all the districts joined physically as well as by virtual mode. The major focus of the meeting was to keep-up the tempo towards legitimate mining practices in all districts of the Union Territory during the upcoming year 2023 and taking all necessary measures to ensure presence of the department through usage of e-Challan and e-Marketplace. A district-wise review was also taken by the Secretary Mining wherein specific directions were given to both the Head of Departments to sort them out. Special emphasis was laid by Secretary Mining Amit Sharma towards making winter months exemplary in terms of best practices and keeping Mining activities alive and vibrant all across the Kashmir valley so that ongoing projects of National Importance like Ring Road, National Highways, Railway projects etc don't face any issues in getting mining material and these prestigious projects can be executed well within the decided timelines so as to realise the broader vision of the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory. Mining Secretary Amit Sharma emphasised that J&K Minerals Corporation should become a model Corporation through its ongoing projects like Jammu Sapphire extraction in Padder area of Kishtwar, Coal Extraction in Kalakote area of Rajouri district and Gypsum extraction in Parlanka area of Ramban district. He further told Director Geology & Mining to explore possibility of e-auctioning new sites in the last financial quarter of the year so that UT exchequer can have maximum royalty earnings through it and take over two sites of major minerals like Limestone and Bauxite located in Rajouri & Reasi districts respectively from Geological Survey of India for e-auctioning them at the earliest. Before concluding, Secretary Mining advised both HODs that on the pattern of weekly review meetings being taken by the Administrative Department, both of them should also initiate same practice at their levels so that weekly pending issues can be sorted out and new plans and targets can be set for the ensuing week.
