Mayor announces various projects for Bahu Fort under Smart City

JAMMU, Jan 10: Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma today announced slews of development projects under Smart City scheme today to develop the Bahu Fort area and for increasing pilgrim -tourist footfall there. He said with the construction of these development projects for the area, the pilgrimage tourism will further get attracted to visit the area and economy of the local residents will get a boost besides, youth will get more job opportunities.
He expressed the hope that all these new schemes and projects will be completed in a time frame.
The announcement in this regard was made by Mayor at a public Darbar at Guru Ravi Dass community hall Sheikh Nagar, Bahu Fort, near here.
Councilors of Ward No 48, Sham Lal and Ward No 47, Sharda Kumari along with prominent citizens of the area also attended the public darbar. Mayor Jammu announced a number of important projects under Smart City for the pilgrimage tourism centre i.e Bawe Wali Mata and Bahu Fort area.
Mayor, while addressing the public darbar said that two number of entry gates, one at starting point of Bahu Fort and second at take off point of Harki Pori link road in Ward No 48 will be constructed.
He also announced construction of new Bahu Fort road, nallah and a foot path in the area. He said in addition to it a parking space will also be developed near Railway Line. Mayor said that front side of all the shops will be developed with signages of uniform designs, way finding signages with specific designs and stainless steel railings along the road near JDA parking above the railway track on Bahu Fort road will be installed. He said that a green cover on the retaining walls to be formed, walls to be plastered and paintings on all the walls on Bahu Fort road will be installed for more beautification of the area.
Roadside furniture and dustbins will also be installed, drinking water points will be developed, police booths at designated places besides rain/Sun shelter at different locations will be constructed. He said that 48 numbers of street lights along the road from Police Post, Bahu bridge to bypass point besides, panels to be installed for covering of spaces to avoid ugly look in the area.
He said moreover toilet near Bagh-e-Bahu JDA parking to be upgraded, one pond inside the fort will be developed, RCC deep drain on Bahu Fort road to be constructed, area with sitting platform around the big tree and in front area of Shai-Masjid near parking to be developed, Harki-Pori road to be widened in addition to a bridge to be constructed there.
Mayor said that Moh-Maya temple area will be further developed and a binocular telescope will be installed near Moh-Maya temple for site seeing. Near VIP gate and JDA parking of Bahu Fort temple a statue of Goddess, Mahakalimata will be installed and a Fountain Plaza will be constructed there.
Mayor said that Balidan Stambh to be further developed where a replica will be prepared to show the history of war heroes. He said that Darshani Deodi will be beautified, parks on the main roads from Police Station Bagh-e- Bahu to National Highway will be developed.
Councilors, Sham Lal Basson and Sharda Kumari, while speaking on the occasion complimented Mayor Jammu and appreciated him for making a Vision Document of Bahu Fort area. Mayor assured them that their demands for replacement of old PHE pipes, additional tube well and overhead tank to be fulfilled at the earliest.
