Early Times Report RAJOURI, Jan 14: As part of Road Safety Week activities, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in Rajouri organized a medical and awareness camp for drivers, conductors, vehicle owners, and passengers at the Bus Stand in Sunderbani. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal, was the chief guest on the occasion. During the camp, doctors screened participants for general health parameters such as sugar and blood pressure levels, as well as eyesight issues. ARTO Shami Kumar also educated the participants about road safety measures such as wearing seat belts, avoiding overtaking, not using mobile phones while driving, heeding red signals, and avoiding unnecessary honking. He highlighted that common traffic violations such as overspeeding, jumping traffic signals, drunken driving, unnecessary honking, violations of designated traffic zones, not wearing seat belts, riding without helmets, modification of two-wheelers, and the use of mobile phones while driving are the main causes of road accidents. Addressing the event, ADC Vinod Kumar Behnal urged drivers to be mindful of their duties and responsibilities while driving and emphasized the importance of self-restraint in speeding limits as a way forward towards changing driving behaviors. He also sensitized drivers about motor vehicle norms and urged them to follow all traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of others. He further added that adherence to laws can prevent most road accidents and make commuting hassle-free. |
