J&K on the boil, BJP govt clueless: Harsh Dev | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 23: "While J&K continues to boil, burn and bleed, the GOI appears clueless over the issue of tackling Pak sponsored terrorism in the UT. With the erstwhile state witnessing death and destruction on a regular basis, the administrative apparatus seems to have collapsed in J&K. The Union Home Ministry despite its loud exhortations and tall pronouncements has not succeeded in curbing the militants' onslaughts claiming precious lives of innocent civilians on day to day basis. The post State Re-organization era is a witness to the peoples' painful journey from frustration to despair with an apathetic regime averse to the woes of the suffering people of the UT". This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh, Former Minister and senior AAP leader while addressing a press conference today. Accusing the BJP govt of making false claims of normalcy post Art 370 abrogation, Singh said that J&K was fast sliding into the abyss of lawlessness and anarchy. The declamatory and bombastic slogans of BJP of "ten Pak heads for one Indian head" had all proved a hoax with the saffron leadership having gone on back-foot over civilian killings. Those who groaned over trivial issues and often shed a monsoon of tears here, there and everywhere over Kashmiri Pandits' plight had gone into hibernation even after the intense bloodshed and mayhem in the valley, said Singh. Maintaining that vague assertions and unproductive meetings by the Home Ministry had failed to produce any tangible result on the ground, Singh said that ever growing militant activity had posed the gravest threat to the very existence of J&K as an entity. Normalcy is not about letter, but spirit as well. The rhetorical overtures would not satisfy the people as long as a suitable strategy was not evolved and operationalized to deal with the present crisis. He said that with growing alienation amongst the masses in J&K, the govt should take all political parties on board and involve them in confidence building so as to steer the erstwhile state out of crisis. |
