Jammu, Jan 30: The third & final day of the Three Day International Conference concluded today on 30th of January 2023. Dr. Amitabh Vikram Dwivedi, Faculty, SMVDU delivered his plenary talk titled “Saving languages with respect to the descriptive linguistic tradition”. Dr. Dwivedi emphasized on documenting the local languages of J&K such as, Sarazi, Bhaderwahi, Dogri, Bhalessi, Saroori, Kashmiri etc. This was followed by parallel academic sessions through offline and online mode wherein the researchers presented their papers on diverse topics of language, literature, and folklore. Furthermore, an invited plenary speaker (Online), Prof. Panchanan Mohanty (GLA University, Mathura) also spoke on the theme of the conference and informed the participants about preserving & saving the regional languages of India. Hereafter, a panel discussion was held where retired Prof. Veena Gupta (University of Jammu), Prof. Posh Charak (Retd., University of Jammu), and Prof. Vandana Sharma (Head, Dept. of English, Central University of Jammu) delivered their talks respectively on the theme “Language, Literature, and Folklore” of the conference. They also emphasized on futurity and passing the language and its culture on to the next generations. The panel discussion was followed by the valedictory session where Dr. Geetanjali A. Rana, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Cluster University of Jammu welcomed the guests and read the report of the three days of academic sessions and thanked Director, CIIL, Mysuru for providing academic and financial collaboration. Prof. Shailendra Mohan, Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru (Patron of the Conference) also joined the valedictory session. In his address, he expressed his happiness on the successful conclusion of the conference. He also highlighted in his address the multilinguality of India and the resources available at CIIL, Mysuru for researching on various themes related to languages, culture and translation. Dr. Chander Shekhar, Dean, Engineering and Computer Technology, CLUJ was the Presiding Officer of the valedictory session, who appreciated the momentous efforts of the department in organizing an International Conference wherein more than 26 parallel online and offline academic sessions were conducted smoothly. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Reena Salaria, Head department of Linguistics and Literature, Cluster University of Jammu. In this conference on “languages, literature, and folklore” more than 300 research papers were presented by the participants both online and offline since the nature of the conference was hybrid. |
