Shiv Khori Mela arrangements finalised

REASI, Jan 31: Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Babila Rakwal today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for smooth conduct of Maha Shivratri Mela 2023 at revered Shiv Khori shrine.
The three day Congregation will begin from Feb 17 and culminate on Feb 19, 2023.
The DDC discussed various issues like facilities of drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, repair of roads, medical facilities and the security arrangements.
She directed the concerned departments to put in place requisite arrangements well in advance for the smooth conduct of Maha Shivratri yatra.
The Tehsildar Pouni was asked to issue Permission/identity cards for the Langer organizers and assure that Langers were installed at already specified locations.
AD Tourism was asked to take up the matter with the Director Tourism for Sanitation/Cleanliness of Ransoo-Shivkhori area during the Mela.
The SSP Amit Gupta informed that the police would set up four frisking points at Taxi Stand, Base Camp, Ram Mandir Pony Stand and at Entrance of the holy caves for smooth regulation of Yatra. He briefed the DC about the security grid and traffic management plan.
The ARTO Reasi was asked to allow Heavy Vehicles upto Kanda and Teryath and provide 20 Matadors/Mini Buses for pick -up and drop service for Pilgrims from Kanda.
Regarding medical facilities, the CMO said that sufficient number of medical staff along with essential medicines , oxygen cylinders, stretchers, ambulances etc would be put in place to deal with any untoward incident and medical emergency.
The Deputy Commissioner asked PDD, PHE and PWD to deploy an adequate number of men, machinery and materials during yatra days.
The JJM department was asked to provide water supply through the existing water points from Ransoo to Shivkhori, ensure uninterrupted power supply to all pumping stations, and sources besides ensure filling of all reservoirs in advance to avoid water shortage.
BDO Pouni was asked to identify a suitable landfill in consolation with Naib Tehsildar to construct a temporary pit for disposal of waste material/ litter and cover the same once the yatra was over.
The Deputy Commissioner Babila Rakwal asked the concerned to cross check the plan and inform her about any loopholes or deficiencies so that the same was rectified well in time.
The meeting was also attended by ADC, Abdul Star; ACD, Anirudh Rai; DPO, Mohammad Faisal; CEO, besides other District Officers/Officials.
