Being self-reliant holds the key
2/2/2023 10:45:44 PM

Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande recently stated that the security of the nation can neither be outsourced nor be dependent on the largesse of others.
The Army Chief has given a clear message that every country which wants to defend its sovereignty has to ensure that it’s self reliant and capable of thwarting any threat.
For the past three decades India has been fighting a proxy war launched by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army and other security forces have ensured that the terrorists are kept at bay and their nefarious designs have foiled.
After the scrapping of Article 370, the proxy war against Pakistan has entered into a decisive phase. Terrorists sponsored by the other side are not being allowed to cross the Line of Control (LoC) due to robust counter infiltration grid being in place and alert soldiers maintaining a tight vigil.
The armed forces of India have proven beyond doubt that they are capable of defending the borders and country’s sovereignty. And anyone who dares to look towards the Indian territory would be given a befitting reply.
The Army Chief highlighted the fact that no country is willing to share the latest, state-of-the-art technologies. His message was clear that India has to become self-sufficient in critical technologies and investment in research and development as these are important strategies and these can no longer be ignored. During the past few years, India has been focusing on depending upon the weapons that are produced in the country. “Make in India ‘’ mantra of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is being implemented in letter and spirit.
The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict has brought to fore many facts such as the impact of asymmetric warfare, the potential of information warfare, digital resilience, weaponization of economic mechanisms, communication redundancy, space based system and many more, all are driven by possession of technology prowess.
India is aware about the changing trend and the scientists are working 24x7 to ensure that the armed forces are equipped to face any challenges that could be put forth by hostile neighbours like China and Pakistan in future. Becoming self reliant holds the key and the Army Chief’s message is loud and clear.
