MeT predicts light snow at scattered places in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 3: Meteorological department forecasts light snowfall at scattered places of Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Currently the weather in Kashmir is cloudy and mainly clear in Jammu region likely to remain dry during the next two weeks, the MeT office said, adding there is no major snowfall, rainfall during the period. An independent weather observer Faizan Arif said light to moderate rain, snow most likely to occur in higher reaches of Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts Friday. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir with cloudy sky had a low of minus 0.6 degree Celsius on Friday against 0.4 degree Celsius a day ago. it was 0.1 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national had a low of minus 2.6 degree Celsius against minus 2.0 degree Celsius recorded Thurday night. It was 0.5 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the year. Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.5 degree Celsius on Friday against minus 2.9 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 4.6 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season for the valley of shepherds. The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius against minus 2.3 degree Celsius while Kokernag in south Kashmir was recorded at minus 2.7 degree Celsius against 1.9 degree Celsius a day ago. The minimum temperature showed a slight improvement in Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded at minus 7.0 degree Celsius on Friday against minus 7.6 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 0.6 degrees above normal for the famous ski resort during this period of the season, MeT office said. |
