Jammu, Feb 12: To give impetus to start Cadaveric Organ Donation in GMC Jammu, State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization SOTTO J&K organized meetings with various stakeholder departments. The meeting was held in Super Speciality Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu chaired by Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma. She emphasized the importance of collaboration between such departments to transport organ from donor hospital to recipient hospital within few hours for successful transportation.She released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prepared by SOTTO J&K as per The Transportation of Organs & Tissues Act, THOTA, 1994. Dr. Elias Sharma, Head Urology department who is also Nodal Officer SOTTO J&K, explained the specific role of various officers of stakeholder departments for successful donation and transport of organs. It was an interactive session amongst all the stakeholders participating from various departments and ensured their support for the cause. The meeting was attended by Ms Manisha, Assistant Commissioner (General), Jammu, Mr. Vikram Bhau, SDPO Bakshi Nagar, Satish Kumar, DySP(Traffic), Jammu, Surjeet Singh, NSP/Exe CISF(Airport Security) and Mr. Gautam Meena, CSO, Airport Authority of India. Govt Medical College Jammu was represented by Mr. Ashwani Khajuria, Administrator, GMCH, Dr Sandhya Arora, HoD Forensic Medicine, Dr Anju Jamwal, HoD Anaesthesia, Dr Kailash Thakur, Assistant Professor, General Surgery, Medical Superintendents, Dr Manoj Chalotra, Dr Dara Singh and Dr Narendra Bhutyal, Dy Medical Superintendent, Dr Sanjogita Soodan. Dr Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director SOTTO thanked the representatives from various departments and requested their cooperation for this noble cause for humanity and informed that this effort was under National Organ Transplant Programme, NOTP, under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India. The event was coordinated by SOTTO staff, Anshu Sharma, Irfan Ahmad Lone, Nisha Kumari, Ashwani Kumar and Ashok Kumar. |
