MeT predicts widespread rain, snow in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 16: Meteorological Centre has predicted widespread light rain, snow in plains and light to moderate snow in middle and higher reaches of Kashmir valley from Sunday onwards, officials said. The weather would remain occasionally cloudy and mainly dry till February 18 and can cause widespread light rain, snow in plains and light to moderate snow in middle and higher reaches of the valley during late night of February 19-20 evening, the MeT office said. The day temperature all across the Kashmir valley including Srinagar shows an increase of over 5 degree Celsius on Thursday while as the minimum temperature also rises above sub zero in Srinagar and Qazigund. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded at 1.3 degree Celsius on Thursday against minus 0.2 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 1.2 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season. Qazigund on Srinagar Jammu national highway had a low of 0.5 degree Celsius against minus 1.2 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 0.6 degree Celsius above normal during this period. Pahalgam in south Kashmir had a low of minus 1.9 degree Celsius against minus 3.6 degree Celsius. It was 2.5 degree Celsius above normal for the tourist spot. Gulmarg recorded at minus 2.0 degree Celsius against minus 4.2 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 4.8 degree Celsius above normal for the famous ski resort in north Kashmir. Kupwara recorded a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius against minus 1.7 degree Celsius the previous night, while Kokernag had a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius against minus1.5 degree Celsius a day ago, the MeT office said. |
