RAJOURI, Feb 20: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, presided over a meeting of the Road Safety Committee here the other day. The meeting was held to discuss and address various issues related to road safety in the district. During the meeting, the Committee members held a thorough discussion on several agenda points related to road safety including strict implementation of provisions of motor vehicles act 2019, establishment of trauma care centre, removal of encroachments/hoardings, safety audit of all existing roads, fixing of road signages and erection of crash barriers, black spot identification and remedial measures etc. The members discussed the implementation of the measures aimed at promoting road safety in the district. They also reviewed the progress made on earlier initiatives and explored ways to further enhance road safety measures in Rajouri. The members called for generating awareness among the general public regarding road safety rules and regulations. They suggested using different mediums such as social media, radio and television to educate the public on the importance of road safety and the consequences of violating traffic rules. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations to reduce the number of accidents in the district. He urged all stakeholders, including the Police Department, Transport Department and other concerned authorities to work together to create a safer environment for commuters.
