Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 21: The World Women Awakening Organization (WWAO), in collaboration with the MIER College of Education, organized a seminar on the theme "Bhartiyata Mein Asheelta ka Atikraman." Sneh Bali, National Vice-President, WWAO; Dr. Renu Gupta, President, WWAO, Prabha Jain, Gen. Secretary, WWAO, Shashi Sharma, Treasurer, WWAO and Sarla Kohli, former President WWAO Jammu Chapter were present on the occasion. Besides these, the members of WWAO Veena Handa, Esther William, Vineeta Sharma, Veenu Khanna, Prabha Sharma graced the occasion.
HoDs and Deputy HoDs of UG and PG Departments, MIER College of Education along with faculty and students also participated in the seminar.
Dr. Renu Gupta extended a warm welcome to the speakers, WWAO members, distinguished guests, and audience. The speakers of the seminar included Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Dean, School of Social Science, Cluster University, Jammu; Advocate Purnima Sharma, Former Deputy Mayor of JMC; Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Former Head, Department of Economics, University of Jammu; and Advocate Deepali Arora. The speakers highlighting the concept of "Bhartiyata" called it a philosophy of life that embraces ancient values, beliefs, culture, heritage, indoreligions, languages, etc. and forms the life thread of our family and social structure. Deliberating with examples and personal experiences on the concept of "Asheelta," they emphasized that it can take many forms, from behaviour to thinking to language, and is expressed through social media, films, OTT platforms, family structure and relationships, dressing style, art and literature, etc. The main reasons for "Asheelta" could be the growing impact of western media and culture, industrialization, a lack of transmission of values and beliefs from one generation to the next, and a faulty educational system. Some of the takeaways from the seminar included changing attitudes, being proud of our cultural heritage, highlighting it through social media, both print and non-print, including bhartiyata in the curriculum and family relationships, through nukkard nataks, and conducting sensitization programs. A token of appreciation was presented to the speakers. The seminar ended with a lively interactive session.
Prabha Jain purposed a formal Vote of Thanks and Komal Sharma, Assistant Professor, MIER College of Education ably conducted the programme.
