GGM Science College organises awareness workshop | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 22: NSS unit II Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College organized an awareness workshop of communities regarding sustainable use of resources under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Rajesh Gupta and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan under the aegis of G 20 India 2023 as a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The G20 recognises the importance of collective action in tackling environmental challenges and climate change while promoting transitions towards more flexible, transparent and cleaner energy systems. Key environmental issues are being discussed as part of G20 working groups. They include climate finance under the sustainable finance working group, climate resilience as part of the disaster risk reduction working group, lifestyles and consumption under the development working group. Mission LIFE seeks to influence individual behaviours and social norms to drive climate action, and is an important strand cutting across all G20 discussions. Sustainability is the practice of using natural resources responsibly, so they can support both present and future generations. Forests are one natural resource that sustainability groups are focused on conserving. Examples of sustainable resources include hydropower, solar power and wind power, to name a few. Solar power, for example, is classed as a sustainable resource because the sun's energy can be captured without the depletion of the sun itself. How do we sustainably use our resources? Think twice before shopping. Make sure your big purchases have big environmental benefits. Go PlasticFree. Boycott products that endanger wildlife. Pay attention to labels. Be water wise. Drive less, drive green. Green your home. NSS volunteers outreaching the community and making them aware the importance of sustainable use of resources. |
