HSM releases Hindi short stories book of RS Kanwal | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 13: A Hindi short stories translation book titled 'Dard Chinaaron Ka', authored by Rattan Singh Kanwal 'Pahalgami', a well known Punjabi writer of Kashmir was released by Hindi Sahitya Mandal (HSM), Jammu in a function organized by HSM-J at the K L Saigal Auditorium, Writers' Club, Cultural Academy, Jammu today. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary JKAACL, was the chief guest whereas Dr. Nirmal Vinod a renowned presided over the programme. Bhupinder Raina and Sanjiv Bhasin, Vice- President, HSM-J shared the dais. A large number of intellectuals and writers attended the programme. The programme started with the introduction and invitation of the dignitaries on the dais by General Secretary Rakesh Abrol. Formal welcome was extended by Sanjiv Bhasin, Vice- Principal, HSM-J. Two papers on the content and critical evaluation of the released book 'Dard Chimaro Ka', a collection of fourteen short stories were presented by Prof. Raj Kumar and Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina. It may be mentioned that Sh. Rattan Singh Kanwal Pahalgami has authored ten Punjabi short stories. His literary journey started during 1980 when his poem was published in a magazine. He is continuously writing in Punjabi, English and Urdu. His short stories depict the dreams and pains of the people of the Kashmir Valley. The Hindi translation of the original Punjabi short stories, has been done by Sh. Manjeet Singh Kaamra, a local Punjabi poet & writer. While speaking on this occasion, Dr. Nirmal Vinod said that Rattan Singh Kanwal Pahalgami has been a writer of worth appreciation for his short stories in respect of the craftsmanship, diction, content dealing with the issues of the locales, and various othe factors of life. He also appreciated the a fine translation work of 'Dard Chinaaron Ka' from Punjabi to Hindi by Manjeet Singh Kaamra In his address, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn complimented Sh. Kanwal Singh Rattan Pahalgami for creating qualitative short stories with a universal appeal in its content & emotive values. He added that it's a good sign that translation work is being done from one language to another. Earlier Sh. Sanjiv Bhasin and Rattan Singh Kanwal recited the short stories included in the released book. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Smt. Uma Sharma, Literary Secretary, HSM, J. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Vijay Sharma. |
