POWERGRID charges 11 Kv Tabbay Nallah feeder in Turtuk | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 17: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is executing rural electrification works under PMDP scheme in both the districts (Leh & Kargil) of Ladakh (UT). Twenty two (22) villages in the UT of Ladakh are to be electrified under this scheme, out of which POWERGRID has already completed electrification of 18 villages so far. On 15th April 2023, 11 kV Tabbay Nallah feeder in Turtuk village which lies near Indo -Pak Border was charged by tapping 11Kv Turtuk - Bogdang line (already constructed under PMDP by POWERGRID ). The 11 kV Tabbay Nallah feeder consists of 11 ckm HT, 0.684 ckm LT- 3-phase; 2.5 ckm 1-Phase lines along with 6 Distribution transformers of rating and number as 63 KVA -3. , 25 KVA-1 . and 16 KVA -2. The challenging part in commissioning of this line was head loading of Poles, Erection material and Distribution transformers for about 12 KM. The supply of Turtuk habitation still depends on state DG supply, due to lack of grid connectivity. However with the charging of above feeder six habitations of this area consisting of around 50 House-holds will first time get illuminated. Ladakh is one the most challenging work places on account of prevailing dry and cold climatic conditions, high altitude and geographical viewpoints. For working in Ladakh (UT) requirement of special permit for movement of labourers, transportation of men and material are as it shares its borders with two countries viz Pakistan and China. Temperature varies from -40 degree to +22 degree Celsius. Altitude varies between 8000 feet to 18000 feet (Approx.). POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA LIMITED is a Maharatna Enterprise under Ministry of Power having its regional headquarters of Northern Region-II at Jammu. POWERGRID is engaged in inter-state bulk power transmission. POWERGRID has 174,113 ckm of transmission lines, 272 Sub-stations and more than 499,363 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability >99%. POWERGRID performance has been consistently Excellent by achieving very difficult measurable parameters which are set in MoU signed with Ministry of Power, Government of India. POWERGRID, Northern Region -II with headquarter in Jammu is having its Transmission System spread over in the States of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana and UT of Chandigarh, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. |
