Poppy cultivation over 6 kanals of land destroyed in Kulgam | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 29: Poppy cultivated over six kanals was destroyed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday during a special drive, police said. The drive was jointly carried by police and officers of Revenue department at villages of Bonigam, Baihama, Babapora and other adjacent areas to put an end to the use and spread of drugs. Police said a special drive against narcotic drug cultivation was launched today and a huge cultivation of poppy spread over nearly six Kanals was destroyed in several villages. "Police Kulgam has already advised all those who have cultivated poppy or any other narcotic substances anywhere in the district, to destroy the same on their own, failing which they will face strict action under law," a police statement said. They said the drive will continue in future with the motive to eradicate this menace from its roots. " Public is also requested to extend cooperation to the Police Kulgam and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood," the statement said. |
