Directorate of Tourism, JKCCA organize national painting camp at Mansar Lake

Jammu, May 7: A three days’ National Paintings Camp organized by Directorate of Tourism Jammu & Kashmir in association with Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu, at Tourist Complex, Mansar Lake in District Samba of J&K (UT), was inaugurated by Pt. Kewal K Sharma, President JKCCA, today. Radhey Shyam, Advisor JKCCA was the guest of honour on this occasion. Ten well known artists fron different states/ UTs of the country viz. Dr. Dr A K Dixit and Deepika Dixit, New Delhi; Pratima Singh, Lucknow; K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma and Atul Mattoo, Amritsar; Jang S. Verman and O P Sharma, Jammu; Minu Dey, Kolkatta; and Ritika Verma, Nud (Samba) are participating in this artist camp in the lap of Nature surrounding Mansar Lake.
While speaking on this occasion, Pt. Kewal K Sharma appreciated the efforts of Sh. O P Sharma, Founder Director JKCCA to hold such national level events in the area of Jammu, blessed with natural beauty. He said that JKCCA, established in 1999, is working for the cause of preserving, promoting and activating the splendid art heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. He wished all the artists to enjoy the Nature around their camp which would certainly encourage them to capture the natural elements of beauty and depict it in their art works. Sh. Radhey Shyam also expressed his views on this occasion.
According to Sh. O P Sharma, the Founder Director of JKCCA, “The purpose of organizing such events is to promote art & culture in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and draw people from other parts of the country to enjoy the Natural beauty of the area. He said that such activities help in developing national integration and communal harmony as well as promoting interaction between the communities.” He added that such activities help in sharing the experiences of participating artists working in their particular styles and mediums, while working at different places of the country. JKCCA has so far organized hundreds of such activities within and outside the state as well as it has successfully organized fourteen International Art Exhibitions, and many state and national level art exhibitions and painters camps during last many years.
