ADGP railways holds multi-disciplinary committee meeting | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 10: A meeting of Multi-Disciplinary Committee was held at Railway Hqrs Jammu under the Chairmanship of ADGP Railways J&K, Sunil Kumar, IPS to assess the requirement of Railway Security Apparatus in J&K. This was the first meeting of the MCD which was attended by the officers of various departments including ADRM Jammu Baldev Raj, DIG U-R-Range, M. Suleman Choudhary-IPS, DIG-Cum-CSC/NR/SINA K.K. Ashraf, SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, SSP Ramban- MS Mohita Sharma, CSTE/USBRL Anil Kumar, CE/C/JAT/USBRL R.C. Gupta, CE/N/USBRL B.B.S. Tomar, CE/S/NR/USBRL Sandeep Gupta, CEE/USBRL S.K.Gupta, Dy. Director Fire & ES Jammu Raj Kumar Raina, Sr. DSC/RPF Rajnish Tripathi, SSP GRP Katra Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, SSP GRP Kashmir, Dr. Harmeet Singh, SSP GRP Jammu Mohan Lal Kaith, Asstt. Director IB Jammu Geeta Narendra, DyCE/C/USBRL/JAT Williamjit Singh, DyCSTE/USBRL/JAT A.P.Singh, DySP SDRF 2nd Bn Daljeet Singh and DySP SO to DIG Railways security J&K Akshay Khajuria. During the meeting, the officers were briefed by Sunil Kumar, IPS ADGP GRP about the recently held meetings regarding assessment of security for railways in J&K at Railway Board & MHA, GOI, New Delhi and the importance of USBRL Project. The Chairman of the committee apprised the participants that on completion of the USBRL Project, Kashmir Valley will be connected with the rest of the country through RAIL and for that purpose sufficient manpower of different security agencies needs to be deployed on the railway track/stations/tunnels/bridges for security purposes. Similar opinion was also given by the SSP GRP Katra/Kashmir/Jammu. After the thread bare discussions, the committee decided that the entire section of Railway track from Kathau to Baramulla has been split into four parts to survey and inspect their earmarked areas and will submit their reports within the given stipulated time frame. The inspection teams will assess the requirement of Railway Security Apparatus in J&K based on; Security Infrastructure, Gadgetry, Communication, Technological Interventions, Use of Drone for patrolling of tracks, Manpower, Construction of Morchas & Accommodations for all Security Personnel from different agencies, digital fencing, etc. Detailed discussion were also held on the feedback of the intelligence agencies exclusively pertaining to the security of Banihal-Qazigund Railway Tunnel. The Railway construction officers were directed to replicate the arrangements in place in the tunnel and other tunnels also which are being construted under the USBRL project. SSP Ramban & Reasi intimated that there are many local people and nomads who may trespass the Railway Line at many places. Concerned officers have been directed to identify those points and places which are prone to crossing/trespassing. At the end, the Chairman welcomed the valuable suggestions given by the members and stressed upon that the Multi-Disciplinary Committee will continue its assessment to ensure the safety and security of Railways in J&K and will work with caution, zeal and enthusiasm to make this dream project a reality. |
