Rana urges LG to establish CUET centers within J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 18: Devender Singh Rana, a senior BJP leader, has raised concerns regarding the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) centers being located outside Jammu and Kashmir. He has sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to address this issue and establish the test centers within the Union Territory. In a statement, Rana acknowledged the assurance given by the Lieutenant Governor to address the genuine grievances of the Jammu and Kashmir aspirants at an appropriate forum. Rana expressed surprise and dissatisfaction with the decision of the National Testing Agency to allocate centers outside the Union Territory for J&K students, without making any provisions for conducting the tests locally at the district or tehsil levels. This decision will discourage financially disadvantaged students from undertaking journeys outside the Union Territory to appear for the test. Rana emphasized the need to reverse this illogical decision in the best interest of the candidates, as they had not chosen centers outside Jammu and Kashmir when exercising their options. He expressed solidarity with the protesting students and expressed hope that the concerned agency would reconsider the issue and establish an adequate number of centers in Jammu and Kashmir for the convenience of the aspirants.
