Early Times Report REASI, May 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, in collaboration with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), organized a training program on 'Agri-entrepreneurship for Rural Development' at Jadh village in Pouni block of Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous farmers in the area. Under the guidance of Prof. SK Gupta, Director Extension at SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Banarsi Lal, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, initiated the program by warmly welcoming the participants. During the program, Dr. Banarsi Lal emphasized the importance of adopting modern agricultural technologies to enhance crop production and productivity. He provided valuable insights into scientific cultivation techniques for cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, and poultry farming. Dr. Banarsi Lal also highlighted the potential of natural and organic farming methods for sustainable agriculture and encouraged farmers to explore organic fruit and vegetable cultivation, which can fetch higher prices in the market. Additionally, discussions were held on topics such as fruit and vegetable processing, agricultural schemes and programs for farmers' welfare, and the cultivation of spices to boost farmers' income. The farmers actively participated in the program, raising queries that were satisfactorily addressed by the KVK scientists. They expressed their appreciation for the KVK, Reasi, for organizing such a beneficial training program. |
