Early Times Report SAMBA, May 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee conducted a public hearing at Panchayat Ghar, Pangdour Samba, for the Environmental Clearance of Minor Mineral (River Bed Material) Block 2/5 Basanter River Downstream NH1A bridge, Samba. The public hearing witnessed a significant turnout of residents from Panchayat Pangdour and the surrounding area, along with public representatives including DDC Member Subash Bhagat, Sarpanches, Panches, and notable individuals from the community. Hansraj Singh Galoach (AEE), representing the Regional Director of JKPCC Jammu, provided an overview of the public hearing's importance and the role of JKPCC. The project consultant from M/s Vitasta Enviro Service Pvt Ltd., Jaipur, presented the salient features, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Environment Management Plan of the project. Various speakers raised queries and discussed issues related to mining during the proceedings. Rakesh Dubey, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba, and Mohammad Sayeed, District Mineral Officer, Samba, attended the public hearing, addressed the gathering, and assured that the concerns and issues raised by the affected people would be recorded and incorporated into the report to be submitted to the Competent Authority. Deepak Abrol, Divisional Officer JKPCC, Samba (South), provided individual briefings on the public hearing and environmental clearance, responding to queries from the public. Additionally, a pledge was conducted for the Mission Life Campaign 2023. Narayan Thakur (Field Inspector) JKPCC, Kathua, anchored the proceedings and extended gratitude to the chair and all participants. Draftsman Subash Chander of JKPCC also attended the public hearing. |
