RAJOURI, May 25: Commissioner Secretary of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur, virtually inaugurated Rajouri's first plastic waste management unit at Bathuni Panchayat, emphasizing the significance of sustainable waste management. Kaur commended the district administration for the successful completion of the state-of-the-art unit and stressed the importance of creating plastic-free panchayats. She issued guidelines to enhance the existing system and promote a cleaner and greener environment. The inauguration of the plastic waste management unit marks a major milestone in the district's journey towards effective waste management and environmental sustainability, according to the Commissioner Secretary. Advanced technologies and strategies will be implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of plastic waste on the ecosystem, ensuring a healthier and cleaner future for the residents. District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal highlighted the key features of the newly established unit. He explained that after waste segregation, the plastic waste will undergo the baling process to transform it into compact blocks for further utilization. Kundal also shared updates on the ongoing Gobardhan projects within the district, aimed at promoting organic waste management and sustainable agricultural practices. These initiatives align with the vision of a Swasth Bharat (Healthy India).
