Sadhotra slams para-trooping of officers in J&K Civil Admin | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 27: In a press statement today, former Minister and Senior National Conference leader, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, expressed his concern over the recent posting of an IPS officer in a slot designated for IAS and JKAS services. He described this move as unwarranted and an unhealthy trend that would have a demoralizing effect on the civil administration. Sadhotra labeled it as a reflection of the BJP's "double engine Sarkar" way of governance. Sadhotra questioned the rationale behind such a decision, wondering if there was a shortage of human resources in the civil administration or if the available officers were deemed incompetent. He emphasized the talent and capabilities of civil services officers in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting their proven track record in handling challenging situations and leading the administration effectively. He stressed that parachuting officers from other services undermines the civil administration and will ultimately impact governance and the welfare of the people. While Sadhotra acknowledged that there was nothing personal against the police officer in question, he maintained that this move was against the principles of a balanced and competent administrative system. He expressed concerns about the discontent among officers in the IAS and JKAS services and the potential hindrance to their career growth. He also warned that such actions send a wrong message about Jammu and Kashmir being turned into a police state. Sadhotra urged the Lieutenant Governor's government to reconsider the decision and restore confidence in the civilian administration. He emphasized the need to maintain the civil character of the Jammu and Kashmir Administration and ensure that it is neither undermined nor compromised. |
