Medanta Hospital’s revolutionary CME in Jammu: Asthma management & advances in Chest surgery | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 28: Medanta Hospital organized a scientific interactive program (CME) in Jammu under their Continuous Medical Education Program, focusing on the recent developments in the management of acute asthma and new advances in chest surgery and lung transplant. The event took place at Hotel Fortune and featured Dr. Anand Jaiswal, Director of the Chest & Respiratory Division, and Dr. Harsh Vardhan Puri, Senior Consultant in Chest Surgery and Lung Transplant, as keynote speakers. Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Director of Health Services Jammu, graced the function as the Chief Guest and endorsed the CME, emphasizing the importance of continuous medical education in improving patient care and navigating the evolving landscape of the medical industry. The technical session was jointly chaired by Dr. Rajinder Singh, Former Principal and Senior Pulmonologist from Jammu, and Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Former HOD and Senior CTVS Surgeon from Jammu. Dr. Anand Jaiswal, a renowned expert in the field, delivered a keynote address on the management of acute asthma, with a special focus on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed the recent advances in the treatment of severe asthma and the use of molecular markers in accordance with international guidelines. Dr. Jaiswal also provided insights to the doctors in Jammu on how to effectively use these treatments for severely affected patients. Dr. Harsh Vardhan Puri, a highly skilled thoracic surgeon, delivered an important lecture on lung transplants, highlighting the benefits and considerations associated with the procedure. He emphasized the availability of lung transplant services in North India and urged for increased awareness about organ donation in the state. Dr. Puri also briefed the Jammu doctors on the availability of advanced techniques such as Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery and Robotic Assisted Thoracic Surgery at Medanta Hospital. The CME program concluded with the presentation of mementos to Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Dr. Rajinder Singh, and Dr. Gurjeet Singh for their contributions as Chief Guest and session chairpersons, respectively. Special invitees, including Dr. Madhu Khullar (Former Director DHS) and Dr. K. Kumar (DIG-BSF), were also honored with mementos. Dr. Anand Jaiswal and Dr. Harsh Vardhan Puri received mementos as speakers of the session. The well-organized and presented CME program was facilitated by Dr. Alka Sharma, a renowned master of ceremonies. The event saw the participation of senior consultants, registrars, and PG students from GMC Jammu, State Cancer Institute, ASCOMS, AOI, SMVDNH, and DHS Jammu. The attendees actively engaged in the question-answer session, facilitated by Dr. Gaurav Vaid, a prominent physiotherapist from Jammu.
