JAMMU, May 28: Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, emphasized the significance of unity and harmony among all communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that only through collective strength can division and hatred be defeated, paving the way for a progressive region. Azad stated that it is crucial for the people of J&K to transcend personal beliefs and find a common path towards peace and prosperity. He criticized the divisive politics of past regimes, which he believes has held the Union Territory back compared to other states. Founding DPAP with these goals in mind, Azad promised that if elected, his party would develop Akhnoor with modern facilities, focusing on education and healthcare. He acknowledged the hardships faced by people in the Akhnoor area due to its proximity to the border, vowing to transform the city, create economic opportunities, and alleviate suffering. At the event, senior AAP leader Rtd Xen Er. Rattan Lal joined DPAP, impressed by its pro-people agenda. Azad highlighted his efforts as Chief Minister to provide relief to Akhnoor refugees and establish hospitals, colleges, and schools for the welfare of the people. Expressing concern over the halt in development after leaving office, Azad promised to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s status as a top city if returned to power. He emphasized the importance of job creation, land rights, and statehood for the people’s well-being, urging citizens to reject divisive forces and preserve harmony. Azad expressed disappointment over the slow progress of projects he sanctioned, including his order for triple-shift work, which failed to address the migration of local laborers to other cities. He raised concerns about contracts being awarded to outsiders for sand and mineral extraction, exacerbating the region’s unemployment crisis. General Secretary R.S.Chib praised Rattan Lal as a dedicated social activist who will undoubtedly contribute to the party’s endeavors. The event was attended by several party leaders, including Provincial President Jugal Kishore Sharma, General Secretary Vinod Mishra, and Chief Spokesperson Salman Nizami, among others. |
