Jammu, May 29: In yet another heart-wrenching incident in Chenab Valley, four people lost their lives while one person sustained critical injuries in a road accident near Rahinallah on Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway 244. According to the available information, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll down into a deep gorge. Among the five individuals on board, one managed to jump out of the vehicle but suffered severe injuries. The ill-fated vehicle, a Swift Desire, was traveling from Bhalla towards Jammu when the accident occurred near Raggi Nallah. The 25-year-old driver, Mohammad Aslam, son of Abdul Gani, escaped the vehicle before it plunged into the gorge and sustained injuries. Unfortunately, four individuals identified as Om Parshad (67 years), Radha Devi (63 years), Ved Parkesh (65 years), all residents of Village Tensna Tehsil Bhalla, and Raj Kumari, wife of Ram Rattan and resident of Village Badasu Tehsil Bhalla, lost their lives on the spot. Local residents, along with NGOs and the police, rushed to the accident site and immediately provided assistance. They shifted the injured driver to a nearby hospital and retrieved the bodies from the water of the Baghliar Dam reservoir. This unfortunate incident marks the fourth tragedy in Kishtwar/Doda District in the past four days, resulting in the loss of 18 lives. It includes seven fatalities at the Dangdoru project site, four family members in Balana village of Keshwan, and three visually impaired brothers in the Pullar area of Nagsini block, Kishtwar District. |
