Div Com inspects Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra arrangements at Yatri Niwas

JAMMU, May 29: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to assess the preparations for the upcoming Annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
In a high-level meeting with various departments, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the arrangements being made for the convenience and safety of the pilgrims.
Accompanied by senior officials including IG CRPF, DIG Jammu Kathua Range, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, and other key officers, the Divisional Commissioner discussed the progress of renovation and improvement works at Yatri Niwas. He directed the concerned authorities to expedite the ongoing work and ensure its completion by June 15. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on ensuring basic amenities, sanitation, drinking water, and logistics well in advance. The Divisional Commissioner instructed the JMC to initiate the beautification of the city by illuminating chowks and major rotaries, while the Tourism department was asked to install hoardings and banners to promote tourist destinations in the Jammu region.
Various aspects such as transportation, emergency management, Langar facilities, medical services, sanitation, power supply, water supply, traffic arrangements, and security measures were discussed in detail. The Divisional Commissioner directed security agencies to deploy an adequate number of personnel and install additional CCTV cameras to ensure foolproof security. Additionally, the PWD was instructed to start road blacktopping and erect barricades, while the JPDCL was tasked with ensuring uninterrupted power supply and functioning of DG sets. The fire services department was asked to be prepared with fire tenders and implement fire safety measures at Langer sites.
During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the ongoing works at Yatri Niwas and issued further instructions to expedite pending tasks for the comfortable stay of pilgrims at the base camp. He urged the concerned authorities to mobilize resources and manpower to ensure timely completion of all necessary arrangements.
